The Ajax Systems PIR iCamera SMART Driveway Alarm is a complete set that includes a battery-powered MotionCam Outdoor motion detector and a wireless Hub 2 base station. The Hub 2 connects to your modem or router via an Ethernet cable or SIM card. As soon as the MotionCam Outdoor detects motion along your driveway, path, or yard, you'll immediately receive a push notification on your smartphone with one or more photos. This way, you can immediately see who or what is approaching your property, even before someone rings the doorbell or tries to break in.
How does the Driveway Alarm PIR iCamera SMART work?
The Ajax Hub 2 is the heart of this driveway alarm system. Connect the Hub 2 to your router with the included Ethernet cable, or insert a SIM card to work via the mobile network. Then install the Ajax app on your smartphone (Android or iOS). In the app, you add the MotionCam Outdoor, set the detection zone, sensitivity, and number of photos per notification, and decide how and when you want to receive notifications.
The MotionCam Outdoor is battery-powered and communicates wirelessly with the Hub 2. You place the detector outside near your driveway, garden path, gate, or backyard. When motion is detected, the detector immediately sends a signal to the Hub 2, including one or more photos of the situation. If you also want an audible signal inside your home, you can easily expand the system with an Ajax indoor siren with a chime function.
No monthly fees
Unlike many other alarm systems, this Ajax driveway alarm PIR iCamera SMART works without mandatory monthly subscription fees. The Ajax app is free, and firmware updates are included with the purchase. Any costs for your own internet connection, SIM card, or an optional external monitoring station are your own responsibility, but for normal use of this driveway alarm, there is no fixed monthly fee.
Driveway detector with photo verification
While a traditional driveway alarm only sounds a signal or chimes, the MotionCam Outdoor also sends photos with an alert. This way, you can immediately see in the app whether it's a delivery person, family, an animal, or a suspicious person. Expand to a complete Ajax SMART alarm system
The Driveway Alarm PIR iCamera SMART can be used as a standalone solution or expanded into a complete Ajax alarm system. Up to approximately 100 wireless detectors can be connected to the Hub 2 base station, such as additional indoor and outdoor motion detectors, magnetic contacts, smoke and water detectors, and sirens. Up to approximately 25 cameras can also be connected. This allows the system to easily grow from a driveway alarm to a complete alarm system for your home or business.
Wireless but secure: secure connection with jamming detection
Communication between the Hub 2 and the MotionCam Outdoor uses the encrypted Jeweller protocol. The system periodically checks (every 12–300 seconds, adjustable) whether all detectors are still responding correctly. In the event of malfunctions, sabotage, or jamming attempts, you'll receive an immediate notification in the Ajax app. This combines the convenience of wireless technology with the reliability you expect from a modern alarm system.
