A pinhole camera owes its name to the shape of the lens, which looks like a small black hole after being built into an object. The pinhole spycams are a popular spy camera model due to the versatile applicability with installation. There really isn't an object of the right size that a pinhole security camera can't hide in.
When to choose a pinhole camera?
A pinhole camera is the best choice if you want to install a spycam yourself. We do recommend that you take a good look at the models of spycams that we offer, which are already built into an object. For example, spy cameras are concealed in a smoke detector, adapter, weather station, clock radio, Bluetooth speaker and many more objects. The advantage of a spycam that is already built-in is that it can be installed faster.
Advantages and disadvantages of a pinhole spycam
A pinhole camera has the advantage that you are not tied to models of existing spycams, but can conceal the camera in an object or place that you want. As long as there is enough space for the installation and you can place the pinhole lens with a view of what you want to film. Only the end of the pinhole camera where the lens sees needs to have "view". In practice, this means that a small black hole is visible when you have installed the pinhole spycam in a suspended ceiling, for example.
Cons
Most pinhole cameras require power from an adapter and a cable runs from the recording box to the camera. This gives quite a lot of cords in total. However, there are pinhole cameras that work on battery where this is much less the case.
Choose stand-alone, Wi-Fi or operation on a SIM card?
Pinhole cameras all have the same shape lens, but the operation can differ quite a bit. For example, there are pinhole cameras that can be connected via WiFi so that you can access the camera from another location with internet. Others have their own modem on SIM card and built-in battery, making you independent of power and the internet at the location where you want to place the pinhole spycam.
- Local recording
With these pinhole camera sets, a cable runs from the pinhole camera to a recorder. This recorder contains an SD card or hard disk where the images are stored. Viewing the recorded is done by connecting the recorder to a TV or monitor. The more recent models also have an ethernet port on the recorder, which makes it possible to connect the pinhole camera set to a router and thus watch it via the internet at a different location on a smartphone or PC. - Wi-Fi
WiFi models are often compact in size and have a built-in WiFi antenna. During the installation of a WiFi pinhole spycam, you set the camera via an app on your phone and connect it to the existing WiFi network. So you need the password for this. After this connection has been established, you can access the WiFi pinhole spycam remotely. - SIM card
With the addition of a SIM card to connect to the internet, it is possible to put together pinhole camera sets that can be placed anywhere quickly.
