Night vision IP cameras
Night vision IP cameras are available in many different models. The IP cameras with night vision are for sale as a complete set with a recorder and stand-alone. You need a night vision IP camera if you want to have surveillance in or around your home or business at night with a camera system.
Different types of night vision IP cameras
The different types of IP cameras with night vision can be roughly divided into the three groups below.
- Stand-alone IP camera with night vision
The stand-alone model IP camera with night vision is the most sold IP camera. This is because it does not need a recorder to work, but everything is incorporated in the IP camera. These IP cameras with night vision almost always work on Wi-Fi to connect to the internet so that the IP camera can be accessed from a different location.
- IP POE camera system with night vision
With a POE IP camera system with night vision, a cable is used that connects the IP camera to a recorder to power the IP camera and send the images to the recorder.
- IP wireless camera system with night vision
Wireless IP cameras with night vision have a wireless receiver on which the images can be displayed or saved.
Use of an IP camera at night
Nowadays, every IP camera is expected to have a certain form of night vision, otherwise it would mean that you would not have any usable images from the IP camera at night. Nowadays we have different techniques that are used for night vision with IP cameras.
What different night vision techniques are there?
Night vision with IP cameras can be made possible by using either a very light-sensitive lens, infrared LEDs or Full color LEDs.
Night vision with IP cameras with light-sensitive lens
When an IP camera uses a light-sensitive lens for night vision, the camera itself does not use an additional light source, but uses the ambient light as optimally as possible. The night vision of such an IP camera often only works in situations where there are sufficient light sources such as a lamppost and not in the dark.
Night vision with IP cameras by means of IR LEDs
Most IP cameras use IR LEDs for night vision, which shine infrared light next to the lens in the dark. This beam of light is not visible to the eye except for a few glowing LEDs, but the IPO can therefore provide a black and white night vision image in the dark.
Night vision with IP cameras by means of Full-Colour LEDs
The latest generation of IP cameras uses Full-colour LEDs in addition to or instead of IR LEDs. This warm LED makes it possible for the IP camera to display images in color at night.
