Models recorders for security cameras
The different recorders can be roughly divided into 2 groups. The first is the DVR which stands for Digital Video Recorder and is used for cameras that have a BNC or Tulip video connection. In addition, there is the NVR, which stands for Network Video Recorder and is used for cameras with a UTP cable video connection. Both systems are now able to run both the video and the power via the same cable, so that it is no longer necessary to have a power connection at the location of the camera.
Advantages and disadvantages of camera recorders
Many security cameras have the option to use it standalone or in combination with a recorder. The advantage of using a recorder for surveillance cameras is that with multiple cameras, they can all be managed from one location. More memory can be placed in a recorder for storage and a recorder often works more stable than recording on the security camera itself.
Cons
A recorder takes up extra space and a cable must be drawn from the recorder to the security camera or WiFi or Powerplugs must be used.
Choosing the right recorder model
It is often best to choose a recorder that is of the same brand as the security camera.
