Alarm system with siren
In the event of an alarm, an alarm system with siren also lets the bystanders know that something is going on. There are also alarm systems with sirens that produce so many decibels that it is almost impossible to remain in the room and any burglars are thus chased away. An alarm system with siren is available in many different versions. For example, there are alarm systems with an indoor siren, but also models with a siren for indoors and outdoors.
When to choose an alarm system with siren?
An alarm system with siren sounds at a certain number of decibels when the alarm is activated. Having a siren in case of an alarm has an advantage in most cases. Apart from the fact that you receive a notification, the siren will abort the possible burglars and also alarm bystanders and neighbors. There are of course certain situations when an alarm must be silent, such as a robbery alarm, but also with an alarm system with a siren, it is often possible to set that when the panic button is pressed, the siren remains silent.
What types of siren alarm systems are there?
Alarm systems with siren are available in many different versions. We will only list the most common systems below and list the differences.
- Via an existing Wi-Fi network
An alarm system on WiFi uses the WiFi network present at the location and is wirelessly connected to the detectors and sensors, including the siren. A WiFi alarm with siren is widely used because of the ease of installation, but we advise our customers to opt for an alarm system with siren that has a wired connection via an Ethernet cable to the router. - Via a SIM card with GSM or LTE connection
An alarm system on a mobile phone needs a SIM card that can be used to make a call, send an SMS or send a push notification via the internet in the event of an alarm. The advantages of a GSM alarm are that there is no need to have an internet connection at the location where you wish to install the alarm system with siren. However, with a GSM system with a siren, if you only have a SIM card as a connection option, this is sabotage and prone to interference. However, a SIM card is often used as a backup connection with WiFi or IP systems with a siren to increase security. - Via a network cable based on IP
The operation of an IP alarm with siren is almost the same as a WiFi & GSM alarm, with the important difference that an IP system with siren is connected to the router with a cable. This has the advantage that the alarm messages are less sensitive to malfunctions and sabotage. - Stand-alone, for local applications
With a standalone alarm with siren, no notification is sent in the event of an alarm, but only the siren sounds or it gives a ringing signal. Such systems are often used as a visitor detector or the like.
Is it possible to expand your current alarm with a siren?
If you already have an alarm, it is in most cases also possible to expand it with a siren afterwards. However, it is important that you pay attention to the way in which the siren communicates with the alarm system. It is often different per brand on which frequency the wireless connection is established. As a rule, it is therefore better to buy a siren of the same brand as the system you already have or to contact the seller.
