Motion sensor cameras
Need advice?
To understand how a security camera with motion sensor works, we first explain this. Motion sensor or motion detectors work with an infrared sensor. The PIR infrared sensor detects temperature differences. People and animals radiate heat, something that the infrared sensor receives. The security camera then transmits a signal. This can be a recording of the image, but also a push notification with a display of live images.
How does a security camera with a motion sensor work?
A motion sensor often refers to an extra pir sensor that is placed next to the lens of a security camera. This pir sensor measures movement based on temperature difference and is therefore often more accurate than the motion detection based on the image, which most security cameras do as standard. Often these two forms of motion detection are also combined where the motion sensor acts as a two-step verification of the motion detected by the lens of the security camera.
A security camera with a motion sensor as a surveillance system
If you want a security camera with a motion detector, you should look for a PIR camera. It is important to note that there are different types of these types of cameras. From cheap to expensive, where of course the quality also varies considerably. Let's take a look at some motion sensor security cameras.
With color lens
Affordably priced and easy to connect to an existing security camera system. This motion sensor camera can also be connected to a TV or recorder. For example, images can be viewed or recorded. The camera transmits various signals. It films in a full HD or 4K resolution, which stands for excellent image quality. This camera not only works during the day, but also at twilight. Unfortunately, it is not possible to film in complete darkness or through glass. The viewing angle is 60-75°. All in all good quality at a good price.
Save images in the cloud or on an SD card
It is quite the trend to store surveillance images in the cloud. This is possible with the 4G and WiFi security camera with motion detector. When motion is detected, the camera sends a push video notification to the smartphone (iOS or Android). This makes it possible to view live images immediately.
The advantage of this camera is that it works on WiFi, which is very nice. When no WiFi is available, the camera uses the 4G network. In some situations there is no internet connection available, whether this is a WiFi network or the 4G network. In this case, the camera stores the images on a micro SD card. It is still possible to send a push notification to the smartphone via a prepaid SIM card.
Wireless models
There is also a wireless security camera system that uses a motion sensor. The advantage of PIR motion detection with wireless cameras is that power consumption is considerably reduced and this also makes battery-powered wireless camera systems possible.
What applications are motion sensor cameras suitable for?
A security camera with a motion sensor has several advantages. For example, it is not necessary to continuously monitor the images. This is especially important for less accessible or less busy buildings and sites, where there is often little supervision. Thanks to the push notification, it is possible to take immediate action.
Many of these surveillance cameras are easy to install, some systems are even ready within 10 minutes. This makes the use of these types of security cameras very accessible, both for companies and individuals.
Buy security cameras with motion sensor online or in the store?
You can order security cameras with a motion sensor online in our webshop, but it is also possible to visit one of our stores. Here you can see the surveillance cameras with motion sensor working and possibly buy them right away. We have installed a camera demo wall with various cameras on it, which can be seen working. It is also possible to advise on the necessary cameras based on a map.
