When to choose a small GPS tracker?
You can use a small GPS tracker to secure valuables, such as a car, boat or caravan. You place the small GPS tracker and connect it to the battery of the vehicle or choose a model with an internal battery if this is not possible. The GPS tracker contains a SIM card that is often supplied by the manufacturer in a kind of subscription form. The small GPS tracker connects to the internet via this SIM card and sends the position information to a server. To view this information, log in via your smartphone or on a PC to the website of the server where the small GPS tracker sends its information with a created username and password. You can then view the current location of the small GPS tracker, but also see which route has been traveled.
Various small versions
Small GPS trackers are available in many different models, but despite the wide range, most small GPS trackers can be divided into the 3 groups below.
Small GPS tracker with battery connection
A small GPS tracker with battery connection is suitable for vehicles that have a battery, such as a car, truck or camper. Depending on the type of small GPS tracker, it only has a plus and minus connection for the battery or several connections such as a connection to the fuel pump, immobilizer and more. With these extra connections it is possible, for example, to start the vehicle via the app of the small GPS tracer or to stop the fuel supply so that the vehicle will come to a standstill.
Small GPS tracker with battery
With a small GPS tracker with a built-in battery, the applications are endless. As long as the GPS tracker can be placed in the object or attached to it, it is possible to secure it. For example, a small GPS tracker with battery can be used, for example, to secure a suitcase, trailers, but can also be used for people. For example, there are special small GPS trackers in the form of a bracelet or watch that are suitable for protecting people, such as children and the elderly.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of a small GPS tracker?
A small GPS tracker provides a high degree of security because you can always trace a vehicle, object or person. Because of the increasingly cheaper small GPS trackers, this is feasible for more and more applications.
The disadvantage of a small GPS tracker is that they require a SIM card and the use of this can sometimes be costly. On average, you should take into account an amount of 10 euros per month. In addition to these costs, there may also be costs for using the server to which the small GPS tracker forwards its locations. This is free for some trackers, but about 50 euros per year must be paid for the better platforms.
Buying a small GPS tracker online?
There are enough small GPS trackers available, but these are often very cheap models of low quality. The disadvantage of this is that no proper location determination takes place. Or that the battery dies after just a few days. In addition, the magnet of the cheap small models is much too weak, so that the tracker eventually gets lost. So go for good quality. These models are available from € 129,-
