What is resolution?
Resolution stands for the number of pixels in an image or screen. Surveillance cameras also have a resolution, which determines the size and image quality of the video. The higher the resolution, the better the image quality. Especially in poorly lit conditions, it is important to choose a higher resolution.
Surveillance cameras with a resolution of 720p
These types of surveillance cameras have a low resolution but are cheap. Actually, these cameras are only suitable for outdoor recordings, because there is sufficient daylight here. The image quality is too low for indoor use. With low image quality there is a good chance that people will not be recognized. It is therefore best not to use cameras with a resolution of 720p for indoor situations.
Security cameras full HD or 1080p
A full HD security camera has good image quality, both when recording indoors and filming outdoors. It is important to take poorly lit conditions into account, unless the surveillance camera has night vision. A camera with a resolution of 1080p is ideal for monitoring a home, yard, office or business premises on bands. A good example of this is the full HD security camera including LCD screen.
2K ultra HD cameras
Cameras that film in 2K ultra HD are also called five megapixel cameras. The image quality with these cameras is perfect, you can count on that. These surveillance cameras are therefore very suitable for various indoor areas, including poorly lit areas. Filming in the dark is only possible if the camera has night vision. The advantage of 2K ultra HD cameras is that they have many pixels. This results in little noise. This makes any criminals clearly visible. This of course depends on the position of the camera.
In itself, 2K ultra security cameras are recommended for professional use (companies). More and more private individuals are also choosing this.
Surveillance cameras with 4K UHD or ultra HD
The successor to the 2K ultra HD cameras are those with a 4K ultra HD resolution . This is also called the eight megapixel resolution. The effect is razor-sharp images, on which everything is clearly visible. Suitable for commercial and professional use, but also for security or surveillance of the home. Logically, these surveillance cameras are more expensive than models with low image quality.
Replace outdated security camera
Some buildings are equipped with outdated security cameras. These are analog cameras with a low resolution. This could be, for example, CIF (360 x 240 pixels) or VGA (640 x 480 pixels). Unfortunately, the image quality of these security cameras is so poor that they no longer keep up with current technical developments. This makes it difficult to identify people.
It is better to replace outdated models with security cameras with a minimum resolution of 1080p or full HD.
