The Ajax Hub 2 Plus in white is the central brain of the Ajax SMART alarm system and is made for situations in which you want maximum connection security. This hub can simultaneously work with Ethernet (LAN), WiFi and mobile data via 4G/LTE. This means that the system remains usable when a connection is lost or when there is no fixed internet line available on location.

The Ajax Hub 2 Plus is suitable for fixed installations in homes and business premises, but stands out especially in locations where you do not want to be dependent on one type of connection. With a stable landline connection you often choose LAN, while WiFi is useful when cabling is not practical. In places without a fixed connection, or where you want extra security, mobile data via 4G/LTE can offer a solution.

Consider a chalet or holiday home, a storage space, an office unit, a temporary construction location or a location where the internet connection is not always reliable. By combining multiple connection options, you can organize the system for continuity instead of a single scenario.

WiFi with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz

The Hub 2 Plus can connect via WiFi on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. For many installations, 2.4 GHz is the most common choice because this range often penetrates walls better and works as standard in almost all environments. This usually works without having to specially adjust your router.

5 GHz can be interesting if you have a busy network within a short distance and you want to keep the connection as stable as possible. This way you can choose per location what performs best in practice.

4G/LTE with dual SIM card

The Ajax Hub 2 Plus has two SIM card slots and supports mobile networks up to and including LTE. This allows you to insert two SIM cards and spread the connection across providers, which is especially useful in locations where coverage can vary. For the mobile connection, use micro SIM cards and disable the PIN code request so that the hub can connect independently.

The supported mobile standards include 2G, 3G and LTE, depending on network coverage and carrier. In practice, you use 4G/LTE where possible, but the hub can fall back on available networks per environment when necessary.

12 volt connection and emergency power

As standard, the hub is powered via mains voltage with the supplied adapter. For situations with a 12V on-board system or battery setup, a 12V power supply can be used, making the Hub 2 Plus also suitable for installations where no fixed 230V is available. The internal backup battery ensures that the system remains active for a long time in the event of a power failure, so that notifications and status updates continue to be received as long as a connection is available.

Battery life depends on usage and connection type. Documentation mentions an autonomy of up to approximately 15 hours for offline operation when using the SIM card, which in practice may vary due to settings and coverage.

Operation via smartphone app

With the Ajax app for iOS and Android you can manage the entire alarm system from one overview. You create rooms and groups, set user rights and determine per user which notifications are received. In the event of an alarm, you will immediately receive a push notification on your smartphone and you can see which detector caused the notification and in which room this happened.

This is practical for companies and families because multiple people can have access, each with their own rights. This way, the operation remains clear, even when several people use the system.

Photo verification with MotionCam

The Hub 2 Plus is suitable for MotionCam detectors with photo verification. This is especially valuable in locations where you want to quickly assess what is going on, for example at a warehouse, shop, storage space or a home where you want to limit false alarms. Photo verification works with the Wings protocol, which is designed to reliably transmit images in addition to regular alarm communications.

Reliability and tamper protection

Ajax works with two-way communication: sensors not only send a message, but the hub also continuously checks the status of components. This makes sabotage, loss of connection or disruption visible more quickly. Communication between hub and sensors is via Jeweler, while photo verification is sent via Wings. In an open field, a range of up to approximately 2000 meters is mentioned for Jeweler, and for Wings up to approximately 1700 meters, with practice depending on walls, floors and construction.

The Hub 2 Plus is Grade 2 certified (EN 50131), which means that the system meets strict requirements for reliability and tamper protection in professional applications.
