How does this driveway detector with app work?

The PIR motion detector is placed outside and aimed at the desired detection zone. As soon as a person, vehicle or animal moves through the detection field, the sensor sends a wireless signal to the receiver with PLUS EU outputs.

This receiver is linked to the app module. When the recipient receives a notification, he activates the app module and you receive a push notification on your smartphone. You will not receive a camera image, but a clear message that the motion detector has been activated.

App module with network connection

The app module is connected to your modem, router, switch or network point with an Ethernet cable. A working internet connection is required to send push notifications to your smartphone.

The motion detector itself does not require WiFi. This works wirelessly with the receiver. Because the receiver with outputs and the app module are connected via a short cable, these parts are usually placed close to each other, for example in the meter cupboard or near the router.

Two sockets required

This set requires two sockets for the app module and receiver. The app module has its own adapter and the receiver with outputs PLUS EU also has its own power supply.

Therefore, check in advance whether there is sufficient space and power points available near the modem, router or switch. If you also want to hear a clear sound signal in your home or business, we recommend an additional PLUS EU receiver in a central location.

Targeted PIR detection up to 15 meters

The motion detector detects heat movement up to 15 meters. The targeted detection angle of 15 degrees allows you to precisely aim the sensor at a driveway, access path, gate, side entrance or passageway.

This narrow detection angle helps to limit notifications of movement outside the desired zone. This makes this set more practical than wide motion detectors when you want to monitor one clear route.

When should you choose a motion detector?

A PIR motion detector is a good choice when you want to detect movement within a certain zone. Consider a driveway, path, yard, parking lot, shop entrance, warehouse entrance or side entrance where people or vehicles move past.

If you only want to monitor an exact passage line, for example between two posts or at a gate, a 3-beam light barrier can be more accurate. However, for many standard driveways, a motion detector is easier to install and more than sufficient.

Difference with the solar version

This version works on replaceable batteries. This makes the sensor suitable for locations where little sunlight is available, for example under a canopy, on a shady side or when mounted under trees.

The solar version has a solar panel with internal battery and requires less maintenance in places with sufficient daylight. This battery version is practical when you want maximum freedom in choosing the mounting location.

You can later expand the system with additional sensors or receivers. For example, you can place an extra motion detector at a side path, use a light barrier at a gate or add an extra receiver in your home, office or workshop.

Who is this set less suitable for?

This set is less suitable if you only want to receive a simple local call notification and do not need a smartphone notification. In that case, a standard PLUS EU set without an app module is simpler and cheaper.

Even if you only want to detect vehicles exactly in one fixed passage, a 3-beam light barrier may be a better fit. A PIR sensor detects movement within a zone and can also respond to larger animals or people walking through the detection field.
