Underwater cameras: Filming at all places

  • 19 Feb 2014

Underwater cameras are available in sports that can be used during snorkeling or water sports, but there are also professional underwater cameras for sale that are more focused on use as an inspection tool. With these underwater cameras it becomes possible to get a depth of 50 meters through a cable that runs from the underwater camera to a monitor.

Sport underwater cameras:
The best-known underwater cameras are intended for sports and recreation applications, the best-known camera being the GoPro. These are small waterproof cameras whose camera, battery and storage are all processed in a compact housing. These underwater cameras can film up to 2 hours on the internal battery and if you want to view the images, connect the sport underwater camera to the computer with a USB cable. There are more and more models of these underwater cameras on the market, including even an underwater camera in a snorkel mask.

Inspection underwater cameras:
There are also special underwater cameras for inspection use. These have been developed for viewing sewer pipes or water sides, for example. These underwater cameras have a video power cable of 20 to 50 meters where both the power for the camera and the video is transmitted. The video cable has a tulip connection and can therefore be connected directly to a monitor or video recorder. The latest model underwater camera has a 360 degree pan function with which the camera can be rotated via controller on the cable. The screen also shows in which direction the underwater camera is turned and how many degrees that is.
