Quality Foscam cameras:
Foscam IP cameras currently have a VGA or HD resolution. VGA quality means that the video images have 640 x 480 pixels. Although this VGA resolution that Foscam uses is suitable for most applications, there are applications such as face recognition, license plate registration, visitor counting and the like that require higher quality (IP) cameras than VGA Foscam cameras.

Operation of Foscam (IP) cameras:
All cameras supplied by the Foscam brand are IP cameras. IP cameras are cameras that use the internet protocol for the transmission of video images. You need to connect the Foscam IP cameras to the router with a network cable or via the WIFI network and this requires some computer knowledge. When the Foscam camera is connected to the router, it is possible to record the images from the Foscam camera on a computer. It is also possible to view the Foscam IP camera via a smartphone such as an iPhone when you are on the move. To do this, settings must be made in the router that refer a specific port to the Foscam IP camera. To view the images from the Foscam camera, an app is also required for Android and iPhone mobile mobile phones.

Alternatives Foscam cameras:
In the same segment as Foscam cameras, there are many (IP) security cameras for sale. All these cameras are very similar in appearance, but there may be differences here in the specifications of the camera and in the supplied software.

IP megapixel cameras:
If you have a situation where issues such as face recognition, license plate registration or visitor count play a role, a VGA IP camera like that Foscam sells is often not sufficient and a Megapixel IP camera should be chosen. The difference between (Foscam) VGA IP cameras and megapixel cameras is that megapixel IP cameras have a 4x or higher resolution than (Foscam) VGA IP cameras.
